APC Special Anouncement: ICT & Environment

THIS THURSDAY: Join the live netcast TV show on the environment and IT

Tune in to this week’s online TV talk show on the potential of IT for
environmental sustainability (ITES). The live netcast -- a side-event to
the pan-European ministerial conference on the environment -- takes
place in Belgrade this Thursday, October 11, 7 pm CET.

ITES is an initiative of the Association for Progressive Communications
(APC) and its Bulgarian member BlueLink.

The ITES event in Belgrade will provide a venue for exchange of
knowledge and good practices bridging environment and IT among civil
society, governments and business.

Pavel P Antonov, environmental journalist and ITES co-ordinator, will
facilitate the event.

The live netcast will allow participants from other countries to join
the discussion - with opinions, good practice examples, problems or
solutions to share.

It will be retransmitted via APC’s network. You can join the discussion
by means of video, audio or simply text. An archive of the entire live
stream will be available at www.apc.org/greeningit (in ogg/theora
format) a few days after the talk show.

The pan-European ministerial conference on the environment is a major
policy making summit for Europe. It takes place every four years under
the UNECE umbrella - which, apart from all countries of Europe and
Central Asia, includes Canada and the USA.

Past EfE conferences have produced groundbreaking international
conventions such as Aarhus (1998) - which obliges authorities to
actively provide their citizens with information and access to decision
making on environmental matters.
