Anriette Esterhuysen
Anriette Esterhuysen became Executive Director of the Association for
Progressive Communications in May 2000. Her area of expertise is
information and communications for development. Ms. Esterhuysen is the a
member of the UN ICT Task Force and of the governing council of the
Society for International Development. Prior to her post with APC, Ms.
Esterhuysen spent seven years as Executive Director of SANGONeT, an
electronic information and communications service provider for the
development sector in Southern and
South Africa, and one of APC's strongest member networks. She is based
in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Karen Banks
Karen Banks is a networking pioneer who has worked with ICTs and their
application as a tool for social change since 1990. She is currently a
Director of GreenNet (the APC Member in the UK), APC WSIS coordinator,
Coordinator of APC Women's Networking Support Programme (APC WNSP) and a
Trustee of Privacy International (UK). Her main areas of interest are
gender equality, women's empowerment and network building and
communication rights, with a specific interest in privacy and security
issues.
Alice W. Munyua
Coordinator of APC's Africa ICT Policy Monitor. Alternate focal point
for the Africa family on the civil society bureau. Member NGO gender
strategies Working group, WSIS gender caucus and Kenya
Civil Society caucus, CRIS Campaign. Formerly with the African Women's
Development and Communications Network (FEMNET) as programme Officer,
communications programme now a member. Headed a civic education campaign
in Malawi and a community radio project for refugees in Tanzania.
