ANNOUNCING THE FINALISTS OF THE APC HAFKIN PRIZE 2004/5:
Recognising community connectivity projects
for economic development in Africa

In May, APC will announce the winner of the $7,500USD Hafkin Prize.  The
winner will be selected from the outstanding technology initiatives
mentioned below.

This year's APC Hafkin Prize recognises community initiatives that use
the internet and other digital communication networks to access markets,
skills and opportunities to derive real economic benefits.

The Hafkin Prize finalists in 2004-5 are:

- BorgouNET, Benin
- Bukuku ICT Project, Uganda
- Development and Promotion of ICTs in Kenya and Neighbouring Countries,
Kenya
- Global Education Partnership - East Africa, Kenya
- OKN Mobile Kenya, Kenya
- Thinkquest Uganda, Uganda

THE PRIZE: USD$7,500.00 may be shared amongst up to three winning
initiatives.

THE PRIZE IS OPEN TO: The competition is open to civil society
organisations, government institutions, educational organisations,
community-based groups, networks, social movements or individuals
anywhere in Africa. Applications were accepted in both English and French.

communautaires qui utilisent l’Internet et autres réseaux numériques de
