EIFL supports call to withdraw new STM sample licences

	EIFL joined over 60 signatories in an open letter calling on the STM 
Association to withdraw their recently released model licences and to 
commit instead to working within the Creative Commons framework.

      EIFL-Licensing update

Renewal agreement for International Monetary Fund eLibrary

	EIFL has signed a renewal agreement with the International Monetary 
Fund for the IMF eLibrary. The agreement runs from 1 January 2015 until 
31 December 2017 and is open to EIFL-partner consortia in 50 countries.

Cases

	A product training webinar on SAGE Research Methods and SAGE Research 
Methods Cases is now online. This webinar is the first in a series of

Tartu University supports OA and open data sharing

	The University of Tartu Library has shared the results of an 
EIFL-funded project on implementing open research data support services, 
enhancing open access support services and open access policy 
discussions in Tartu University.

FOSTER call for Open Science Training 2015

	FOSTER (Facilitate Open Science Training for European Research) is 
still accepting new proposals for training events on open access, open 
research data and open science to be held from January to November 2015 
in countries in the European Research Area.

Students for open access in Poland

	Last week was international Open Access (OA) Week and its theme – 
“Generation Open” – highlighted the importance of students and early 
career researchers as advocates for change. Centrum Cyfrowe shared the 
results of an EIFL-funded project "Students for OA in Poland" 
implemented in 2013-2014.

New resolution on OERs and Digital Education in Kyrgyzstan

	This summer an international conference discussed the draft national 
concept for Open Educational Resources in Kyrgyzstan. Teresa Hackett, 
EIFL-IP Programme Manager, spoke about copyright/licensing and the

Top marks for copyright MOOC

	With over 10,000 participants from 130 different countries, this 'MOOC 
from Duke' on copyright for educators and librarians hit the mark.

Deadlock at WIPO <http://www.eifl.net/news/deadlock-wipo>
	EIFL participated in the General Assemblies, WIPO’s main policy and 
decision-making bodies that took place in September. The meeting ended 
in deadlock and there was no agreement on several key issues affecting 
the work of the organization, including SCCR.

EIFL-Goethe-Institut partner to expand library training

	EIFL is delighted to announce a new partnership with the 
Goethe-Institut in sub-Saharan Africa to support capacity building for 
public libraries in Africa. The new partnership will expand the scope of 
a nation-wide capacity building initiative which EIFL is piloting in 
Ghana, together with Ghana-based partners.

Serbia library enters EIFL-PLIP project in Code Week

	Public Library ‘Dušan Matić’ Ćuprija in Serbia joined over 3,000 
organizations from 38 countries hosting events for European Code Week 
2014. The library organized two events as part of their Biblioteka++ 
project, which was initiated in May 2014 with support from the EIFL 
Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP).

EIFL partners to launch library training in Uganda

	EIFL has announced a joint project with Maendeleo Foundation and 
National Library of Uganda that will encourage development of new and 
innovative public library services in Uganda that meet local community 
needs.
