Hello everyone,

In follow up to our recent conversations about our principles statement, we're now at the next round of activity.

The statements of all the Dynamic coalitions have been posted here: http://review.intgovforum.org/

Our document is posted here: http://review.intgovforum.org/igf-2015/dynamic-coalitions/dynamic-coalition-on-public-access-in-libraries-dc-pal/

Our principles are now open for comment. That means that we can continue commenting, and we can solicit comments and feedback from our networks. I encourage you to seek feedback from your networks using the link above. We'd like as much input as we can in the next two weeks, by Tuesday, August 25. This is when the next "snapshot" of the principles will be taken and submitted to the MAG for review. That will determine whether we're included in the main session at the IGF in November. I know this could be challenging for some given the August holiday season.

You can also seek feedback at the regional IGFs, including after August 25, such as the upcoming Africa IGF, and then add the feedback using the online forum.

I will be adding the following introduction, to make it clearer what we would like from the main session and why the current timing:

The DC-PAL hereby presents the Principles on Public Access in Libraries for endorsement and feedback as part of the Dynamic Coalition Main Session scheduled for the 2015 IGF meeting in Brazil. The WSIS+10 review is underway and the UN post-2015 development agenda continues, with national development plans to follow. The endorsement of this statement by IGF participants in 2015 would underline the critical role of libraries in ensuring access to information through providing internet and supporting technology, and support libraries in their efforts to engage in the national development plans related to the sustainable development goals.

And we'll edit our intro to the principles to be:

Libraries have a role in national development through providing access to information. The members of the Internet Governance Forum endorse the following principles:

If you have suggested edits for the intro or the change to the sentence above, make them in the online forum!

Don't forget, you can also give feedback on the documents posted by the other dynamic coalitions, using the first link above.

Best,

Christina
