[Pal-dc] IGF Call for Thematic Inputs

Dear DC-PAL Network Members,

We hope this finds you well! This is just a quick note to say that, in addition to the call for feedback on the recent DC-PAL working draft (more information below), the 2022 Internet Governance Forum call for thematic inputs may of course also be of interest for you - https://www.intgovforum.org/en/content/igf-2022-call-for-thematic-inputs

As always, this is an open consultation for all interested stakeholders to share what topics, trends and discussions they think the IGF should focus on in 2022. You are very welcome to suggest themes and topics, by selecting options from the drop-down list, as well as by writing in any additional inputs – for example, around digital skills-building, public access, digital content, and others. In fact, this year, “libraries” is even one of the topics on the suggested list of themes in the “Universal Access and Meaningful Connectivity” subsection!

This call is open until 14 February. Naturally, if you would like to know more or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to message us.

Ahead of the annual DC-PAL session this Thursday, we are thrilled to share with you a DC-PAL working draft “Impacts of Public Access in Libraries”! This paper offers an overview of the recent evidence around the impacts of public access in libraries around the world: who are the users of public access? How are these access facilities used – and how do users benefit from both public access to the internet and ICT, and from value-added services it enables? It also offers an overview and examples of various methodologies, both quantitative and quantitative, which have been used to better understand and assess these impacts of public access.
