THETHA - THE SANGONeT ICT DISCUSSION FORUM

Second Provincial Thetha - Limpopo Province

In March 2003 the Southern African NGO Network (SANGONeT) launched Thetha:
The SANGONeT ICT Discussion Forum. This initiative aims to provide civil
society organisations (CSOs) with an opportunity to discuss information
communication technology (ICT) issues of common concern and to learn from
one another's experiences.

Thetha is a Nguni verb meaning let's  talk, discuss, debate, share ideas and
engage each other.

The forums focus specifically on the ICT challenges facing the CSO sector,
highlighting and promoting practical benefits, opportunities and lessons
learned to date.

Given the success and positive feedback received in response to the first 4
Thethas held in Johannesburg and one in North-West Province, SANGONeT will
be co-hosting its second provincial Thetha on Tuesday, 25 November 2003, in
the Limpopo Province. The meeting is organised in conjunction with the
National Development Agency (NDA).

The meeting will be held from 08h30 - 15h00 at the Ranch Protea Hotel
situated on the N1 road between Polokwane and Potgieterus.

Participants will be introduced to various inputs from government, business
and the CSO sector, highlighting various ICT policy and development issues.

Specific attention will also be given to the activities and initiatives of
various CSOs involved in ICT issues.

SANGONeT has been providing networking, information and training services to
Southern African CSOs since its inception in 1987. SANGONeT's mission is to
be a facilitator in the effective and empowering use of ICTs by development
and social justice actors in Africa.
