Hi,

Here is some help regarding logistics, without any comment on other
issues, as for now.
Instead of staying in Hammamet, which is very expensive, you can stay
in Nabeul (12km from Hammamet) and less "high-level" resort, while very
nice too, if not nicer. Note also that Tunis is only approximately 60
km from Hammamet, and there are trains, buses, collective taxis, etc.

I've found a website giving a lot of practical details on Nabeul
(including a list of "publinets", the Tunisian cybercafe :-)) :
http://www.nabeul.net/pratique/ (in French).

A more or less accurrate schedule of trains from/to Tunis can be found
in the attached PDF.
Note that there is no direct fast train from Tunis to Hammamet or
Nabeul : one has to change in Bir Bou Regba, or take the omnibus train.
You can try this website to get some indications (the schedule is out
of date):
(To Tunis, check Hammamet and Nabeul lines, 1h30 from Hammamet, 1h15
from Nabeul) :
http://www.carthagus.com/horaire/grand_train_vers_tunis.php to get some
indications
(From Tunis, check Hammamet and Nabeul lines) :
