ICANN CLAIMS SUCCESS IN AFRICAN OUTREACH
ICANN president Paul Twomey said in a press conference
that at the Cape Town, South Africa meeting ICANN
heard that Africa's primary concern in this area is
creating the infrastructure to allow its citizens to
access the Internet.

LE JAPON CONFIRME SA PARTICIPATION
Le Japon vient de confirmer sa participation active au
processus du SMSI en nommant Mr Aiko Doden (de la
télévison NHK) comme ambassadeur du Japon pour le
SMSI.

Japan has confirmed the active participation to WSIS
process by naming Mr Aiko Doden (from NHK television)
as the ambassador of Japan for the WSIS.

COMMUNICATION RIGHTS : WSIS AND BEYOND
The Asian Civil Society Forum took place on November
25 2004 in Bangkok, Thailand. It was organized in 2
sessions (one specifically on WSIS, and the second one
on broader Communications Rights issues and concerns +
video conference with WGIG representatives including
Martin Kummer).

MEXICO: AMARC SALUDA ENTREGA DE DOS PERMISOS A RADIOS
COMUNITARIAS INDÍGENAS
Este lunes 6 de diciembre, los representantes legales
de Radio Jën Poj de Santa María Tlahuitoltepec, Oaxaca
y Radio Uandarhi de Uruapan, Michoacán recibieron de
la Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes (SCT)
sus títulos de permiso para operar sus emisoras. Ambas
radios son operadas por indígenas, en el caso de Jën
Poj atiende a comunidades mixes y Uandarhi a población
purépecha migrante. Con la emisión de dichos permisos
por primera vez en la historia de nuestro país son
grupos indígenas quienes tienen su propio permiso para
operar y administrar sus radios.

A new refereed e-journal has been launched:
"International Journal of Education and Development
using Information and Communication Technology
(IJEDICT)". Articles in the first issue will be
published early in 2005.

Canada's Citizen Lab has developed an information and
communication (ICT) project that involves making
"blogging" space available to those working for
non-governmental organisations (NGOs) abroad. "Blogs"
(or "weblogs") are Internet-based daily journals.

INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S DAY OF BROADCASTING 
On December 12 the International Children's Day of
Broadcasting is celebrated globally. The purpose of
International Children's Day of Broadcasting is to
encourage broadcasters to help children learn and tell
other children, and adults, about how to help build a
protective environment in their community. "Children
have the right to live in a safe world. Everyone must
play a part in creating a safer world."

cultural, político y económico globales.

UN MINUTO POR MIS DERECHOS 
Un Minuto por mis Derechos es el nombre de un proyecto
de UNICEF, en el que usando la metodología de
TheOneMinutes, busca incentivar a niños y jóvenes para
que produzcan videos de exactamente 60 segundos de
duración, sobre temas relacionados con sus derechos,
vivencias y demandas, como parte del ejercicio de su
derecho a la participación y para hacer escuchar su
voz en los medios y la sociedad en general.
