[WSIS CS-Plenary] Trade talks in Geneva...? => Internet Governance

Hi,

One might add to Tom's note that some of the items that will be under
discussion at the GC meeting, particularly with respect to the GATS
agreement, have a direct bearing on Internet governance broadly defined,
e.g. the shaping of electronic commerce and trade in "cultural products" and
potentially even infrastructure-related services such as international
interconnection charging. Unfortunately, developments in the WTO have
remained very much off the radar of the WSIS and WGIG processes, a problem I
spoke about at the recent WSIS thematic meeting in Guatemala. The
conference website http://www.sit.gob.gt/tematicamundial.asp seems to be
down at the moment but the presentation should be there if anyone's
interested. I also addressed this in a couple of issue papers on ICT global
governance and civil society done in the context of the Social Science
Research Council's research network on IT Governance and Civil Society,

"ICT Global Governance and the Public Interest: Transactions and Content
Issues."
