Dear Renata,
Thank you for posting this information requesting input. I have made
suggested inclusions in red on the document. I was concerned as there was no
mention of health (physical or mental) in the political chapeau. It is
especially surprising as it is part of the MDGs. This was surprising as
there was reference to special needs, yet no reference to physical and
mental health which is a basic need. Without physical and mental health is
fundamental to learning, working, family relationships, etc. In addition,
the human, economic, and social development referred to in the document is
by necessity built on the foundation of physical and mental health of all
people. I have made the following recommendations bracketed and in red on
the documents attached:
I have inserted in the political chapeau:
Par. 1- "promote physical and mental health"
Alternate 9+10- "physical and mental health"
10 or Alternate 10A - "physical and mental health"
I have also inserted in the Operational Chapters/Plan of Implementation:
ICT Applications C7 - "physical and mental health"
Thank you for your help with this. Those of us who will not be able to
attend the PrepCom appreciate the opportunity to have recommendations and
revisions addressed.
