It could indeed be a case of very bad and incompetent design only.

Sometimes that is hard to tell, though. Making things harder or more
cumbersome to use with competitive products is a standard technique of
Microsoft, after all.

The site definitely does not meet the expectations that one could have
of a United Nations site: transparent, accessible, standards-compliant
and reliable for all. So it has to be changed.

Rik, you seem to be in touch with the people working on the site, do
you know whether they a) plan to change the site, b) in which time
frame and c) how they plan to set things up this time?
