Session 1

Theme:  Multi-stakeholder Partnerships in the WSIS implementation

Moderator:  Ken Lohento

The what:

·        Evaluate the MSP status of the African CS in the WSIS process so far

·        Document particular positive examples

·        Signal particular negative experiences

·        Take stock of challenges 

·        Recommendations for the way forward to Tunisia and Qatar

·        Recommendations on the way forward after summits

·        Etc 

Session 2

Theme:  Priorities in the use of ICT for African development 

Moderator:  John Dada

Rapporteur:  Adefemi Sonaike

Language Facilitator:  Fatimata Seye Sylla 

The what:

·        What has been the priority so far?

·        Is there a convergence in the priorities of the actors in the ICT sector?

·        What specific country or subregional issues should be taken into consideration?

·        Are there good practices?

·        Recommend a way forward for the implementation of Action Plans

Session 3

Theme:  Processes, policies and regulation in ICT

Moderator:  Jummai Umar

Rapporteur:  Isaac Kofi Danner

Issues:

·        Review existing national sub-regional and regional policies in ICT

·        Evaluate the role of the CS in the processes, policies and regulations

·        Recommend the way forward for a better implication of the Africa Civil Society for the Information Society (ACSIS) at national, sub-regional and regional regulatory bodies

Session 4

Theme:  Finance and financing mechanisms

Moderator:  Titi Akinsanmi

Rapporteur:  Florence Etta

Issues:

·        Review CS challenges in the financing of grassroots ICT projects in Africa

·        Review existing international finance mechanisms

·        Recommend guidelines for effective CS role in ICT4D financing

·        Recommend the role of the African CS in the follow-up mechanisms that will follow the WSIS

·        Discuss the financing of African CS participation the Tunis phase of the WSIS

·        Etc

Session 5

Theme:  Mainstreaming African Civil Society in the realisation of  the MDG goals.

Moderator:  Boubacar Barry

Rapporteur:  Boureima Gado

Language Facilitator:  Tijani Ben Jemaa

Considerations :

·        What role has the African Civil Society played so far in the process of the MDG?

·        What challenges exist for the CS?

·        Recommend viable CS partnerships on the regional and international levels in the MDGs

·        Recommend a way forward for the realization of MDGs taking country specificities  into consideration

Theme:  The African Media in the Information Society: WSIS and beyond
