First Spanish-Speaking LPI Approved Training Partner in Latin America
*(Toronto, ON – Apr. 8, 2005) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the premier Linux certification organization worldwide (_www.lpi.org_ <http://www.lpi.org/>), announced today that the Latin American based “Instituto Superior de Estudios e Investigaciones Tecnológicas” ISEIT (Higher Institute for Technological Studies and Research)(ISEIT) (http://www.iseit.com.ve) is its most recent Linux Approved Training Partner (LATP).
“LPI welcomes ISEIT as our newest LATP and our first such Spanish-speaking partner in Latin America. We are encouraged by the growing acceptance of Linux and the desire for professional certification in the Latin American countries. The official legislative adoption of Linux as a national standard in Venezuela is good news for the Linux and Open Source communities everywhere,” said Evan Leibovitch, President, LPI.

Located in La Trinidad, Caracas, Venezuela, ISEIT is an educational organization that focuses on open technology, telecommunications and Computer Science. Supported by Corvus and other high-end technology companies, ISEIT is the first technological institute in Venezuela to train and certify professionals in open technology, through its “Profesional Certificado en Linux (Certified Linux Professional)” program.

ISEIT, with the cooperation of others such as IBM-Venezuela, plans to train 1000 Linux professionals and 5000 Linux users. José Ramón Peña, Software Manager for IBM-Venezuela, expressed his great respect for the program in a recent IBM press release: “Our initiative with ISEIT is a cornerstone of the IBM strategy to drive forward the industry of free software in Venezuela”

The Venezuelan government is the world leader in implementing Open Source technology. Recent legislative changes project the implementation and full adoption of Linux within two years. “We offer training that is focused on these goals and the LPI partnership provides us with the credibility to promote successful completion of the LPI exams and recognized professional certification for our students,” says Ricardo Strusberg, Director of ISEIT and professor of one of the leading technological universities in Venezuela.

LPI’s Linux Approved Training Partner (LATP) program is designed to recognize publishers, schools and training centers who have met LPI criteria. The LATP program is open to all qualified participants: those using LPI approved courseware (LATM) delivered by qualified instructors and upholding a common code of ethics. These recognized partners promote their affiliation with the Linux Professional Institute as an indication of their commitment to educational quality and the advancement of Linux certification.

LPI's LATP program encourages training partnerships where the focus is on providing effective, high-quality Linux training geared to LPI examination and certification.
