Dear friends of CIVIC,

We are now few days before the CARDICIS2 meeting
(see http://cardicis.org/r2.php?lan=en&pg=r2Objetivos)
in Dominican Republic, focusing cultural and linguistic
diversity as a key element for the Caribbean Information Society.

The specific objectives of the second CARDICIS workshop,
which is realized thanks to the renewed support of Agence
de la Francophonie and which can be considered as an early
post-WSIS step for the Caribbean are to:
- Fortify products and impacts of the first meeting
(http://cardicis.org).
- Set together, civil society and international organisations,
the bases for action.
- Give the project continuity and momentum.
- Open the CARDICIS community to the diaspora and non-insular Caribbean.

The specific direction is to contribute to a better regional
coordination of ongoing activities, in terms of multisectorial
approach and cultural diversity, building on what exists already
and searching for synergies.

In coherence with the previous it will be an appropriate place
to contribute to the strengthening of CIVIC, the existing regional
platform of multisectorial articulation, by diversifying the
community, welcoming new actors, and enhancing the definition of
its interfaces and connections, in the regional and global
context, with other existing or intended projects.

The participants include some 12 people members of CIVIC and some
other 12 people members of MISTICA (some are in both communities)
and representatives from several International or Regional Organizations
involved in ICT4D in the Caribbean.

This announcement is to invite CIVIC community (and other interested
parties) to participate at distance in the meeting, in any way which
is felt appropriate.

The meeting is organized in partnership with CARISNET (http://carisnet.org)
and will serve as well as an activity for this CIVIC supporting project.
