Hello,

The proposed event to be reported on by the WSIS YC is as indicated beneath.

1. Name of the multi-stakeholder event: WSIS Follow-Up:
Beyond Tunis as Youth (Youth implementing WSIS Action Plan)

2. Name of the organizer(s) of the multi-stakeholder event
(WSIS accredited entities): WSIS YC & ITU Youth and Gender Unit with the
support of Industry Canada and CTA (HYPERLINK
"http://www.cta.nl/"www.cta.nl)

3. Date and Place of the multi-stakeholder event: November
16th; 11:00 – 13:00 La Goulette

4. Nature of the multi-stakeholder event: A large part of
the problem with world wide processes is lack of follow-up of commitments.
As Youth in the Information Society one of our ground rules has always been
to take words and transform them into action which clearly relates to all
levels and demonstrates how these policy formulations are a part and affect
our decisions and lifestyle from living as communities to individuals and as
businesses. The WSIS Stocktaking process as championed by the Swiss from
inception has attempted to garner all such action outcomes of the first and
initial half of the WSIS process. Over the past three years, National Youth
campaigns – geared at all youth, youth in the rural areas and young women as
‘interest groups’, governments at the local, regional, national and
continental level as well as the larger communities within which these
exists have been targeted. The session Going Glocal is a report back from
which concrete action which has been proven to work and be adaptable is
proposed in the session beyond Tunis as Youth. Both sessions have put set up
as follow-up to each other.

5. Web page or web-site of the multi-stakeholder event:

6. Contact person(s): Ms. Titi Akinsanmi HYPERLINK
"mailto:t.akinsanmi at schoolnetarica.org"t.akinsanmi at schoolnetarica.org

7. Description and inputs to the objectives of the Summit:
Organizations, individuals as well as governments which have indicated or in
one way or the other till date supported these action and which have also
indicated their willingness to further replicate these campaigns will be
present alongside campaign leaders who are articulate and can share on
behalf of youth in the information society on the various steps to implement
as well as what has been lacking and what could be improved upon as we all
seek an inclusive and extensively useful information society. This would
serve as a lunch pad of Youth contribution beyond Tunis

8. Name and contact of the proposed reporter (optional
information): Ms. Titi Akinsanmi HYPERLINK

Subject: [CS Bureau] Report on multi-stakeholder events in Tunis -
Notification of interest by CS entities

FRENCH AND SPANISH WILL FOLLOW LATER ON.

Dear all,

In our first call for the nomination of speakers for the Tunis Summit, sent
out on 25 September, it is mentioned that there is an opportunity to report
on multi-stakeholder events during official WSIS meetings.

This was discussed with the WSIS ES during Friday’s CSB meeting in which Mr.
Toru Nakaya, from the ITU, participated. In addition, we had another
discussion with Mr. Nakaya on this topic this morning.

However, Mr. Yoshio Utsumi, ITU SG, has not taken any definitive decision
yet on which category of multi-stakeholder events could be subject to an
oral report during WSIS Plenary Meetings (only parallel events to take place
in the Summit premises from 14 to 19 November 2005, or also other thematic
events before and during the Summit). This is the reason why the CSB did not
mandate the Selection Committee to make any recommendations on
multi-stakeholder events reporting.

As agreed with Mr. Nakaya on Friday and today, any request for reporting on
multi-stakeholder events can be sent to us (HYPERLINK
"mailto:wsis at ngocongo.org"wsis at ngocongo.org) before 14 October 2005, and we
would compile a list of requests to be directly forwarded to the WSIS ES for
their consideration, as the WSIS ES / ITU would do the selection.

In the notification of your interest to report on multi-stakeholder, please
send us the following information (see also questionnaire enclosed):

1) Name of the multi-stakeholder event

2) Name of the organizer(s) of the multi-stakeholder event (WSIS accredited
entities)

3) Date and Place of the multi-stakeholder event

4) Nature of the multi-stakeholder event

5) Web page or web-site of the multi-stakeholder event

6) Contact person(s)

7) Description and inputs to the objectives of the Summit

8) Name and contact of the proposed reporter (optional information)

Any requests that we have received so far will forwarded to the WSIS ES.

In addition to this oral reporting, all events would be given the
opportunity to send their outcomes to HYPERLINK
"mailto:wsis-contributions at itu.int"wsis-contributions at itu.int, to be then
posted on the WSIS website.

Best regards,

Philippe Dam

Find below an extract of the ITU Guidelines for the identification of
Speakers, for the Reports from Multi-stakeholder Events

“Report from multi-stakeholder events

a) The report from multi-stakeholder events will be conducted during the
fifth Plenary Meeting for 15 minutes (17 Nov., Thursday) and the Eighth
Plenary Meeting (18 Nov., Friday, from 14.00-19.00).

b) CSB and CCBI are invited to propose up to (8) events to report in those
sessions before October 10. Priority should be given to events which provide
positive inputs to the objectives of the Summit as outlined in the
Declaration of Principles and the Plan of Action as well as the final
document(s) to be adopted at the Tunis Phase of the Summit or events which
are linked to creation of sustainable multi-stakeholder partnership
projects. After the establishment of the list of events reporting to those
sessions the Secretary-General of the Summit, the organizers of the
nominated events will be asked to identify the reporters respectively.”
