WSYA aims to empower youth by creating digital opportunity. It is an
international competition for youth-led projects that encourage the active
participation of young people in the emerging Information Society. It is the
first global "youth for youth" initiative for selecting and promoting best
practice in e-content and technological creativity.

The WSA Gala is a festive and dynamic event featuring, announcing and
celebrating the world's best e-content and most creative producers, hosting
over 500 highest level guests from all over the world. It will be one of the
prime events at the Tunis summit and one of the few with TV coverage from
around the world.

The International Research Foundation for Development is organizing the
second phase of its World Forum on Information Society to be held in Tunis
in November 2005 in view of the United Nations World Summit on the
Information Society,
(3) Past, Present, and Future of Research in the Information Society
November 13 - 15, 2005, Tunis, Corinthia Khamsa Hotel

This event will examine the role of research and the production of knowledge
in the information society, with special emphasis on developing areas of the
world. "Past, Present, and Future of Research in the Information Society"
(PPF) is a three day conference that immediately precedes the second phase
of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), in Tunisia (November
2005). Core issues of the conference lie at the intersection of Science and
Engineering, Information and Communication Technologies, and Development.
While WSIS is sponsored by the UN Secretary-General, with the International
Telecommunication Union in the lead role, this conference is a "satellite
event" of WSIS without political affiliation.
PPF is a decentralized event, organized by an International Program
Committee composed of one representative each from a loose coalition of
organizations.
