Dear all,

The CS Nom Com has finalized today the selection process of the
recommendation for CS membership in the Global Alliance Strategy Council. We
took some more time over the week end to conclude our work, with the OK from
the UN DESA. I am going to write a letter to Sergei Kambalov which will be
sent today, with the criteria we used and the bio of the recommended
nominees.

We decided to include 21 recommended candidates in our list:

• Akinsanmi, Titilayo (Schoolnet Africa, South Africa/Nigeria)

• Al-Shatti, Qusai (Kuwait Information Technology Society, Kuwait)

• Ayadi, Kamel (World Federation of Engineering Organizations
(WFEO), Tunisia)

• Bazlur Rahman, AHM (Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and
Communication, Bangladesh)

• Bissio, Roberto (Social Watch, Uruguay)

• Bloem, Renate (Conference of NGOs, Switzerland)

• Burch, Sally (Agencia Latinoamericana de Información)

• Diouf, Papa Ndiaye (DAPSI, Senegal/Switzerland)

• Gáspár, Mátyás (European Union of Telecottage Associations,
Hungary)

• Gurstein, Michael (Global Telecentre Alliance, Canada)

• Gurumurthy, Anita (IT For Change, India)

• Håkansson, Ann-Kristin (Indigenous Peoples Caucus on WSIS)

• Kawamura, Hiroshi (Daisy Consortium, Japan)

• Kleinwächter, Wolfgang (IAMCR, Germany/Denmark)

• Morrell, Claudia (Center for Women and Information Technology,
USA)

• Muthoni Wanyeki, Lynn (FEMNET, Kenya)

• Naughton, Tracey (Media Caucus, South Africa / Australia)

• Pimienta, Daniel (FUNREDES, Republica Dominicana)

• Pineda, Magaly (Center for Feminist Resarch and Action (CIPAF),
Dominican Republic)

• Primo, Natasha Lee (Women'sNet, South Africa)

• Sagun, Robert (Philippine Resources for Sustainable Development,
Inc., The Philippines)

I would like to warmly thank the 5 Nom Com members for their time and
commitment, and I hope you will join me in this regard. It was actually an
extremely difficult task to narrow down the 63 nominations under
consideration, since many of them were extremely valuable (the list of
nominees is still available on line:
http://www.ngocongo.org/index.php?what=news
<http://www.ngocongo.org/index.php?what=news&id=10220> &id=10220).

Note that these 21 recommendations are done in the personal capacity of the
candidates, and that the UN SG will take the final decision as regards the
actual members of the Strategy Council of the Global Alliance.

Best,

Philippe
