APEC+LAC Digital Economy Forum for Women 2008




  APEC Women's e-Biz Center hosts "APEC+LAC Digital Economy Forum for Women 2008: Global Strategy and e-Development of Asia Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean" with Ministry of Women and Social Development (MIMDES) of Peru in Arequipa, Peru from 9 to 10 of May, 2008.

  This year's theme was carefully selected reflecting on the overarching theme of APEC 2008 Peru, which is focused on "broadening the participation of other players in the process of building Asia-Pacific community." More than ever, the association among the public and private sectors as well as the participation of the civil society is reiterated on various development scenes, in order to include everyone in the discussion of sustainable development.

  On the second day of the forum, "APEC+LAC High-Level Meeting" will be held in order for women leaders in Peru and Latin America to understand the importance of the digital economy and invite active investments from government, civil organizations and enterprises for future projects. Inter-American Development Bank has been showing interests and supports on this forum, there will be more opportunities of empowerment for women in Latin America.
