Dear all,

Further to Stuart's useful and interesting links below, here is another one worth looking at - the report by the PEW research centre on Library Services in the Digital Age. The interesting (but not so surprising) findings come from a national survey in the US funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. I find the 'apps-based access' and the 'petting zoos' intriguing, would be great to try these in public libraries in developing/transition countries too.

And another exciting bit of news: Beyond Access members EIFL and IREX together with the Asia Foundation, will be paying an investigative visit to MyanMar/Burma in February to look into possible engagement with public libraries there. Aung San Suu Kyi herself said her dream was 'to launch a chain of public libraries across Burma'....

Anybody on the list who might have some knowledge to share of libraries in Burma, please get in touch with myself and Ari Katz Akatz at irex.org offline.

All the best
Monika
