Dear all:
Please find nomination of a speaker from Disability Caucus:
1.1 Name: Kicki Nordstrom
1.2 Event(s) (Opening Ceremony, General Debate, or Round Tables):
Opening Ceremony and/or General Debate and/or Round Table
1.3 Organization: World Blind Union and International Disability Alliance
1.4 Country: Sweden
1.5 Region Designated by the UN General Assembly: Non-member state with an
consultative status
1.6 Gender: Female
1.7 Reasons nominating this person (500 words):
Mrs. Kicki Nordstrom, the President of the International Disability Alliance
as well as the World
Blind Union has been active in international human rights arena, a best
gender equality activist
as a totally blind mother of 5 children, going around the world to promote
collaboration for
developing countries, and the best advocate of the theory "Nothing about us
without us" - full
participation of all stakeholders. She delivered a very clear eloquent
message on the
"Information Society for All" at the Paris Intersessional Meeting
(http://www.wsis-
cs.org/intersessional/disability.html) in context of WSIS even though she
was allocated only 3
minutes.
If WSIS is going to address bridging the digital gap and set out the
direction towards the
Information Society for All, Mrs. Nordstrom is the best speaker at the
Opening to represent the
Civil Society.
