We believe the Campaign will mark the genesis of a
movement, which embraces the idea that young people
have the potential and spirit to be useful agents of
transformation through the emerging Information
Society in Ghana.
AYI has been involved in the whole WSIS process
through the participation in the preparatory sessions,
Africa Information Society Initiatives conferences,
online discussions including the drafting of Ghanas
input into the Information Society and also recognised
by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa
as one of the emerging youth networks on the
continent.
African Youth Initiative is an African youth-led
Information and Communication Technologies for
Accelerated Development (ICT4AD) initiative to help
bridge the digital divide in Africa, and to provide a
sustainable livelihood for the people of the
continent. AYI is a network of youth NGOs and
individuals and has representation in about ten (10)
African countries with Ghana as the headquarters.
Among other involvements, AYI has already started
pilot Information and Communication Technology for
Accelerated Development (ICT4AD) clubs known as
CatchITYoung under the Ministry of Education in the
Central Region of Ghana to demonstrate its commitment
to youth development.
