Important Information

Extension of application deadline until 30 April 2004

Due to the considerable interest demonstrated in the "Mondialogo Engineering
Award", Mondialogo is extending the application deadline until 30 April
2004. http://www.mondialogo.org/mo/site/?key=3.1.3

The "Mondialogo Engineering Award" is a partnership initiative of UNESCO and
DaimlerChrysler designed to promote international cooperation and the
sharing of ideas between young engineers in developing and developed
countries - to enhance intercultural dialogue and help bridge intercultural
divides ("Mondialogo" is from "mondial" and "dialog"). The "Mondialogo
Engineering Award" programme is organised by UNESCO and DaimlerChrysler, in
conjunction with the International Association of Universities and World
Federation of Engineering Organisations. For further information, see:

There will be 15 awards of $20,000 each, presented for project proposals
jointly developed by student/young engineers in developing and developed
countries for engineering and technology applications addressing poverty and
sustainable development in developing countries. The proposals will be
judged on grounds of the quality of each proposal and demonstration of
international cooperation in the development of the proposal. Indications of
intent to submit a proposal should be submitted by 28 February, and the
proposals should be submitted by 31 December 2004. The proposals will be
adjudicated by a Jury, with the Award ceremony taking place in March 2005.

I would be most grateful if you please forward to all your young engineers
and university contacts in your region and other people and organisations
you think may be interested. There has already been a WFEO ands IAU mail-out
to universities, but it is always useful to follow-up.
