Dear Esther, Djilali and all
I dont share Djilali's very negative point of view : a lot of our english
speaking colleagues in the WSIS CS environment are very sympathetic and some
are comprehensive about linguistic issues.
But I'd stress the fact that not naturally speaking persons have a more or
less narrow language filter that doesn't allow them to express fully their
opinion and knowledge about a given issue. So their actual expertise may not
be recognized because not understood accurately by their native
english-speaking partners. This is a second type barrier we have to face at
each meeting and each e-mail writing.
Let's hope that there will be more understanding by the largest part of our
english speaking partners, at least inside the CS !

Je ne partage pas le point de vue de Djilali parce que trop négatif  : une
bonne partie de nos collègues dans l'entourage SC du SMSI sont très
sympathiques et une bonne part est consciente des problèmes linguistiques.
Je voudrais par contre souligner le fait que les personnes qui pratiquent
l'anglais en langue étrangère ont un filtre de langage plus ou moins large
qui ne leur permet pas d'exprimer complètement leur point de vue et leur
connaissance sur un sujet donné. Ainsi, leur réelle expertise peut ne pas
être reconnue car non comprise exactement par leur partenaires, anglophones
par naissance.  Cela est une barrière de deuxième type à laquelle nous
sommes confrontés à chaque réunion et à chaque rédaction de courriel.
Espérons qu'il y aura plus de compréhension par la plus grande part de nos
partenaires anglophones, au moins à l'intérieur de la SC !
