Dear Jean-Louis

Thank you for noting that Africa has specific issues that need to be
addressed. I just wanted to clarify that there is a 'family' member for
Africa on the CSB - Olivier Nana Nzepa.

There is also active discussion - though a whole continent with this many
countries makes such discussion cumbersome - on a list about how to
galvanise African civil society and prioritise issues. This is hosted by the
United Nations Economic Commission for Africa - UNECA and an archive of
discussions can be traced on http://www.uneca.org/aisi/sitemap.htm - go to
the outreach then e-lists section. There is a problem at the moment and only
the last couple of weeks messages can be seen.

Recently Regional Co-ordinators and a 'Cabinet' steering committee have been
formed to take the African civil society process and content issues forward.
There are attempts to get to the Tunis meeting - though as with everyone,
there are resource constraints (to put it mildly).

Then African Civil Society has a web site.

We in the African Caucus are aware of being a weak link in terms of input
and this too gets discussed!

We all hope the situation improves but working virtually with so many people
and two major languages is not proving to be effective, yet.

Regards
