Thank you for actually naming the issue of representation (or lack of it)
that just goes on and on and will unless there is a conscience change of
approach. That includes people like you speaking out on these matters.

Living in developing countries and experiencing the reality of global
inequity can only lead to views on all matters of governance that differ
from those of people who don't live in these contexts. The differences are
simply too stark for this to be any other way.

People in the south find it so much more challenging to obtain the resources
required to participate, and have to factor in the added energy required to
travel so far to northern hemisphere meetings, where their views will so
often be seen as less important than those of the dominant representation in
the room. 

These factors deplete enthusiasm and reinforce dominant paradigms. We all
have a responsibility to bring about a more equitable world, but too few
take up the challenge.
