The more immediate issue is whether they will be discussed at all,
and if so whether considerations of free expression, fair use and
cultural diversity will be given equal billing with the concerns
of [copyright and patent] holders.
I worried about this on general principles; you're confirming
there is something to worry about.
Since on the issues of patents and copyrights there is no opportunity
for the WGIG to make things better, only worse, and since you think
they are inclined to consider these issues badly, it suggests it is
better if they don't touch these issues at all. It's one way to make
sure no harm is done.
