CALL FOR PAPERS

Lesser Used Languages & Computer Linguistics
European Academy Bozen/Bolzano, EURAC research (Italy), 27th October-28th October 2005


Conference aim:

The aim of this conference is to provide an overview of the state of the art in research on lesser used languages, with special reference to their computational support. 

Central to the conference are methodological issues such as:

* strategies for an efficient support of lesser used languages,
* problems with theoretical approaches developed for major languages when applied to lesser used languages and
* the cultural, economical and political specificity of a user group for which computational resources are created.

Furthermore, the conference intends to promote the networking among participants in order to enhance the exchange of information, experience and resources.

Themes of conference:

We are soliciting original research papers on the following topics 

 * Lexicography for lesser used languages
 * Terminology for lesser used languages
 * Computer linguistic applications for lesser used languages
 * Corpora for lesser used languages
 * Translation Memory Systems for lesser used languages
 * On-line dictionaries for lesser used languages
 * Internet and lesser used languages
 * Computer Assisted Language Learning and lesser used languages
 * Lesser used languages and LSP
 * Linguistic tools (spelling-checker, syntax-checker etc.) for lesser used languages

Format of the Conference
The conference will comprise invited talks and oral presentations.

- Notification of acceptance – 16th May 2005 

Registration:

The fees include a welcome evening reception on 27th October, coffee breaks and one volume of the proceedings. A selection of accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Detailed instructions for the document preparation will follow.

Late registration (after 19th August)	250 €
