[WSIS CS-Plenary] Strategy Council of the UN Global Alliance for ICT and Development - 27-28 February 2007

This is to provide you some information regarding the up coming 2nd meeting
of the UN GAID Strategy Council <http://www.un-gaid.org/council/>  meeting,
taking place on 27-28 February 2007 in Santa Clara (CA / USA).

This meeting is open for registration to the members of the GAID Strategy
Council and to the Panel of High-Level Advisors.

Day 1: GAID Strategy Council and GAID Steering Committee meetings

(The main focus will be on the implementation of the GAID Business plan and
the consideration of the GAID activity report).

 

Day 2: UN Meets Silicon Valley

(The main objective of this event is to provide a space for networking and
exchange with actors involved in GAID related activities).

 

A list of participants in this the day 2 events will be circulated soon. In
particular, we would be happy if some of you could recommend us some
relevant CS persons located around Santa Clara (CA / USA) who should be
considered participating in this gathering of ICT and Development exercise.

 

Among our priority issues to be raised during this Strategy Council and
Steering Committee meetings, we will address the following:

 

-          Need to improve information sharing devices about GAID related
initiatives on the main GAID website (including how to join and contribute
to these multi-stakeholder initiatives);

 

-          Having more discussion on the interactions between the GAID and
other ICT related UN processes (including CSTD, ALF meetings, UNGIS, .);

 

-          Future steps for the development of additional Communities of
Expertise.

 

We will provide you with further details on the agenda and the issues to be
discussed during this Strategy Council meeting. Please send us some comments
/ questions / contributions that could be relayed by CONGO during the
meeting (wsis at ngocongo.org).
