A civil society report on the official intersessional meetings on 16

summary below.

CIVIL SOCIETY REPORT ON OFFICIAL WSIS INTERSESSIONAL MEETINGS
16 July 2003


Summary: Governments resumed discussion of the draft declaration of 
principles, beginning with para 19, completing this discussion of the 
Draft Declaration of Principles today.  Most of the main contentious 
issues were referred to sub-groups, chaired by specific governments, 
who will be meeting tonight to try and reach consensus.  Meanwhile, the 
chair and the secretariat staff are drafting the new version of the 
Draft Declaration to be presented sometime tomorrow or Friday.  
Tomorrow morning, delegations will begin discussions of the Draft Plan 
of Action.....
