I understand your point and will try and post a
Spanish and French version of the conference
announcement as soon as I can. Here I'll
translate this message using Bill's suggestion of
Babelfish. However, I would ask that you lead by
example and write in multiple languages yourself
- you choose to write most of your messages in
French. I understand you're trying to make a
point, but I think there are more constructive
ways to do so.
I think that there are constraints for others
that you choose not to recognize. There is one
person in my small office who speaks French and
he's very busy with his own work. I've already
asked him to translate the conference
announcement and he'll do it as soon as possible.
Can you suggest translators? The conference
itself will be in English only, unfortunately,
since we are a small non-profit and don't have
the funds to hire translators. However, we're
putting together a sourcebook of wsis related
documents and analytical articles which we are
looking to translate into French and Spanish - it
will be expensive for us as we're publishing and
distributing the sourcebook for free, but we know
it's important. I hope that you would recognize
that people who only speak one language
themselves, albeit the one that too often
discriminatively dominates, also have constraints
that they are working to overcome.
I don't mean to be insulting or presumptuous and
I would appreciate it if you would be a bit more
understanding and constructive and less
aggressive yourself.
