[I think we have time for this on a Sunday...]

Jean-Louis,

Thank you for your recommendation, but You will be happy to know that the
state of New York actually has its own wine industry.

We have heard in New York that France produces wines that rival those of
California, New Mexico (my home state), as well as Australia, Chile,
Spain, Italy, and many other countries. This is not to mention the
"sparkling wine"
made in your wonderful country.

Nonetheless, we were not able to find French wine in New York city.

We had several popular beers from England, Belgium, México, and Germany
while dining on *Chinese* Sushi. The UN had the wonderful San Pellegrino
water from Italy, as well as the famous water named after the late
Canadian
Prime Minister Trudeau, called "Pierre." Of course, we had Italian wine at
the dinner sponsored by Frannie's organization EPIC.

As for potatoes, thank you again for your recommendation.
You will also be happy to know that New York's dear neighbor
Quebec is an important center for the production of seed potatoes,
many of which we grow in New York state.
(See

)
[Quebec and New York state are attempting jointly host a Winter Olympics.]

Still a bit hungry after the dinner (it was the wine),
I walked around the corner and found a quick slice of *New York* pizza,
which we have heard is also made in Italy, Greece, and Israel.
On the way back -- with Pizza slice in hand-- I spotted a small shop
selling Belgium Frites.
I tried to get some, but the line was too long.

Best,

WJM
