Dear Freinds,
I dont know if any one of you is having the same
problem we are facing currently to be in Tunisia for
both the Prep Com 3 and the main summit.
We are based in Nigeria, and there is no direct flight
from Nigeria to Tunis, neither does the Tunis airline
operate the Nigerian route. The only flight to Tunis
from Nigeria are Lufthnasa, Air France, Cameroun
Airline, Afriqueair(Libya), and Ethopia.
Apart from the African Airlines, you need a transit to
use the European airlines.
All the airlines operates connecting flights on at
least twice a week basis.
We were unable to get booking in any of the arilines
to be in Tunis by 12th Novemeber, except Lufthansa,
and our Transit visa application submitted to the
German Embassy and my ticket issued and was ready to
leave tonite 11th for Franfurt enroute Tunis.
Just three hours before our check -in, the German
embassy refused our aplications. We lost the visa
fees, and service charge is going to be charged for
the ticket already issued at least 20% and other
sundry charges from a ticket that cost 2,126
dollars!!!.
Right now, I am making frantic efforts to secure
booking in any other Africn airline, and ONLY one
readilly available is Egypt air that will leave 14TH
and will arrive 05.am 15th, connect by 7pm 15th and
arrive TUBIS 05am 16th!!!!!!
Perhaps, we should have considered all these factors
for countries without direct flihghts to and from
Tunisia.
Well, we shall definitely be there irrespective of the
difficulties we are facing right now.
Bon vouyage till we meet few days from now.
But while Transit countries should make things
difficult for participants is another angle worth
looking into.
