[WSIS CS-Plenary] Renewal of membership in the GAID SteeringCommittee

Karen/ Bill

Since the timeline for nominating candidates for one seat in the steering
council is in less than 10 days, we thought going through a nom com process
will be difficult. It is for this purpose a alternative was proposed that
the present members of strategy council and the advisors to GAID, who have
been closely associated with collectives CS processes choose 3 names on
behalf of CS. These can be from among themselves, plus one or two from
outside (1+2 or 2+1 formula can be used).

However, this should be a one time arrangement, and for future we should ask
for being given enough time to go through a proper and full nomination
process.

And this full process is in any case proposed for strategy council members,
in which case the last date for nominations is September 31st.

Philippe, why don't you, as you suggested, just make the list of the
existing strategy council and advisory members who have been associated with
the CS WSIS process, throw them together in a mailing list, and invite them
to come up with 3 names. I think you too should be on the list to moderate
it. We don't have much time. Thanks

Parminder
